About McDonough Tax LLC

Mother and son team, Mary McDonough and Jacob McDonough, own McDonough Tax LLC in downtown Buffalo. Both have been working in the tax business for many years in the Wright County Community. We are dedicated to providing individual, personal attention to those in our community that we serve.

We have done business from our location at 20 Central Ave in Buffalo for over 10 years. We maintain office hours year round to better serve our clients.

Mary has been assisting clients with tax preparation for many years, gaining a reputation for being detail-oriented and finding ways to maximize tax return amounts, all while delivering service with a friendly smile. When Jacob returned to Buffalo, the two began their own small business to continue providing tax service in their community.

Jacob attended high school at Buffalo High School and graduated in the class of 2000. From there, he studied at Minneapolis Business College, as a member of the Class of 2001, before returning to work in his hometown.

Over the past year and a half, Mary has been planning her retirement, slowing moving more of the business management over to Jacob.

UPDATES FOR 2025

Due to Mary’s retirement, she will be cutting back substantially in 2025. She will be taking off the month of January and plans to work fewer hours than previously for the remainder of the season. She will continue to see clients based on needs. We have reviewed our client list carefully to make the best use of her skill set.

Jacob will continue in his current role as well as taking over management duties.

We are very fortunate to have two qualified preparers, Dana & Brenda, returning to McDonough Tax this year. Dana had helped many clients with their tax preparation last year, and Brenda was working behind the scenes, behind the front desk. This year, Brenda will be meeting with clients as a registered tax preparer. We have complete confidence they will handle things competently and professionally. Of course, Mary & Jacob will be available to them should questions or concerns arise.
